Oh.... so close! It is actually about how Eisenstein's theory of montage informs the editing of TRIUMPH OF THE WILL for propagandistic purposes. It's my only film-related essay of the semester and I'm biting off far more than I can chew.
It is really emotionally draining to watch TRIUMPH OF THE WILL so many times, for reasons I'll get into next post (which will be...this weekend? It all depends on the workload)
Did you ever see Dusan Makavejev's GORILLA BATHES AT NOON, which crosscuts between shots of TRIUMPH OF THE WILL and the Soviet-produced FALL OF BERLIN, showing the ideological similarities??

I've never seen Triumph of the Will. I know I should, but, call me crazy, I find the point of view to be off-putting.
